PE> the 420 meg to my BIL. Is it a simple process,

RS> Yeah, no harder than installing the 420 really.

PE> and how much does it cost?

RS> Que ? Just the cost of the new drive.

PE> 1. Do I need to buy a Vlbus EIDE controller card instead

RS> You appear to be saying at the top you already have one of those.
RS> The short story is that if you actually have an ISA multiIO instead,
RS> you can continue to use that if you replace the 420 with the 1.2G

I have a VLBus IDE controller card. I do not have a VLBus EIDE
controller card. Assuming these are two separate things. Maybe
I do have a VLBus EIDE controller card, I certainly didn't ask for
one in the shop when I bought it though, for about $25 or $35.

RS> I've since found a reference to support for >1GB in DOS 5. Its fine.

Ok, I'll see what I can do. Unfortunately I didn't get the
sales of SBR and DNR that I was expecting! I did get a return
aeroplane ticket to Brisbane for $179 though! With Ansett. Oh,
that's a point, I'll only be going up for 2 days, in June, if
certain unnamed people (ie David Begley) would like to lend me
their modem for 3 days.

I'm not sure there's a great deal of point though, as I expect
that we'll see perfect M34F connects and then be in the normal
situation of what do you do.

Hey Bill, this was mainly in reaction to your claim that USRs
handle bad phone lines better than Netcomms. Have you decided to
drop that claim, considering we now don't even have known bad
phone lines, and all the evidence points to M34FM34F working
perfectly. Or do you really need to see the M34Fs connect on
your lines. I am concerned that 2 days won't be enough anyway,
we need longer term stats.

BFN. Paul.
