MW>> One thing I've been wondering about regarding DAPIE; what MW>> about MFC? Are there any problems recompiling MFC MW>> with DAPIE? pf> It does not support MFC (this is a feature, not a bug ). MW> Does it support any other framework? If you have the source, and it uses the subset of the win32 apis that dapie implements, and it compiles with IBM's C++ compiler, the answer is yes. Dapie is (a large part of) the win32 api on os/2, don't think of it as any more. MW> Or am I completely wrong when I thought that most new MW> applications that are developed today, uses some type MW> of application framework, such as MFC, OWL, etc.? That would be a shame if it were true -- both of those are proprietary, and lock you in to one vendor. I have a feeling the most popular use of these two is with hobbyists, not for commercial use. I frequently review/recommend (or more often reject) tools for large Banks etc; the first test a product must pass is "openness". It must be compilable with more than one compiler. --- Maximus/2 3.00* Origin: Sol 3 * Toronto * V.32 * (905)858-8488 (1:259/414) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 955 SEEN-BY: 712/407 515 517 628 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 259/414 400 99 250/99 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
