Wearing a helmet is not a form of harrassment!!!  I am 51 years old and
hope to see 100 while on my cycle. My early years were spent in a era
that did not require or even recognize that helmets were needed. I saw
many friends hurt, some for life. When helmet wearing became
fashionable, we all saw a reduction in injuries and the seriousness of
injuries.
When I created the Hotter'n Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls Texas we
decided to require helmets for all riders. This ride started with over
15,000 riders. Yes fifteen thousand. It was and remains the largest
ride of its kind in the world. We have not had any major head injuries,
in spite of heart attacks and other problems. I have seen many severe
wrecks, but no one had brain damage. Helmets work, and the smart rider
uses one all of the time. Would you drive your car while your drunk?
Most of us realize how ridicules that is. Let's get the word out that is
just a stupid to ride without a helmet.
