Hi Marilyn,
   Thanks for the reply!  I do have earthworms, but a lot of that shale rock 
that makes digging impossible without a pickax or digging/pry bar.  Just 
planted a true dwarf stayman winesap apple tree, about 4 ft tall now.  My 
neighbor tells me that I will have a forest instead of a yard soon.  Always 
wanted a forest!
