We've taken the approach that we will adapt our document styles to those
which are supported by standard methods in Word. Our interest is in
production efficiency with reasonably attractive document format. That was
one of the advantages that I saw in Word's relative inflexibility compared to
Wordperfect. Wordperfect lets you tweak and do almost anything. This led to
a lot of "frittering" by people with low word processing skills.
I perceive that your objectives are more toward absolute control over the
document format. In that case, Word can certainly be frustrating.
