JA* I don't think it's anything you said. I think it's more a general
attitu
*of most (and notice I said most, not all) bass boat owners and dealers,
that
*if you aren't a bass fisherman or if it ain't a bass boat. Then you ain't
*sh#%.
I build. repair and sell computers and I know computer dealers like
that and it wrong. You fit the machine to the job..computer or boat
same deal...
JA* I went to bunches of dealers around Dallas looking at pontoon boats
nd
*every single dealer I went to that sold primarily bass boats, couldn't
ave
*cared less whether I bought a boat from them or not. Because I wasn't
*interested in the all mighty, sacred, made by GOD just for them bass boat.
It's their loss. Around here they want to make a profit. They will sell
what you want.
JA* It also seems to be a very common practice for bass boat owners to put
t
*largest powerplant they can find on their boat. Just so they can get there
*real fast and sit longer. Almost like it's one of the Ten Commandments.
A lot of us do just that but some of us have valid reasons for wanting
a LARGE engine. The main reason I do is I have a 18,6 Rebel
http://www.nashville.com/~John.Duke/index.htm
It's a VERY heavy boat not to mention I'm 6'3 and 290 lbs. I have a
older 150 and it's not enough to properly run the boat. WHen I'm
running about 55 it will porpoise. It's due to my large butt and the
weight of the boat. I have driven a boat like mine with a 200 on it and
it's a very smooth ride. I also think it's better to have a big motor
and run it easy than a small motor and run the heck out of it. I fish
about 1 club tournament a month. Around here it's not uncommon to run
30 miles. Yes if I had a 200 it would run in he high 80's...Would I
no..
JA* It isn't you. It's bass people in general. And it seems to be
nationwide
*Maybe it's just me (I don't know) but why does a boat that sits all day
*fishing for fish need such a gosh awfully powerful engine? Do you have to
*sleep until 5 minutes before entry deadline and then race to get there on
*time?
I know one time I w as able to beat a storm in and several of he boats
behind me didn't make it in.
