All my echos have been disconnected from my current feed (as he is required
to do as per P4). So TML is now isolated from fidonet. You can continue
posting in AUST_AVTECH etc, but messages will only go to other points. So
it's basically like all echos are "local message chat" areas.
Well, it's one way to get rid of Dianne Lindsay, anyway!
If you want to continue your fidonet mail to the rest of fidonet, I suggest
moving to John Tserkezis now, I wouldn't bother waiting, as you are losing
outside mail right now.
However, I'm planning on quiting fidonet and moving to Adultlinks only now,
or maybe providing internet mail only. That is unless something happens
real damn soon to give me my node + feed back, otherwise, the fascists can
keep it.
Internet has the advantage that I can switch to unix at last, without
having to write the several missing utilities.
Adultlinks has the advantage of being able to maintain the existing
structure with just node numbers changing, and you get access to some quite
interesting echos! As well as introducing some of our own (as I said,
there's nothing stopping AUST_AVTECH from being an Adultlinks echo)!
Suggestions? Personally I think it's probably come time to move to the
internet. Does anyone know what software end-users need, to get access to
newsgroups from your existing MSDOS/OS2/etc systems? I've got an old
message from David Begley to tell me what I need to get mail for myself.
Suggestions/votes?
I suppose another option would be for me to run internetfidonet
gateway software. I guess there's one other option, which is to start a
new network, like fidonet, except based on the internet standards, so that
similar-minded sysops can have the advantage of being able to transfer mail
between consenting nodes (for free) instead of having to pay an ISP, whilst
at the same time getting some standards a hell of a lot better than the
fidonet shit.
It's also possible that I could run internet software 6 days of the week,
and fidonet software 1 day. I think maybe it's time for the internet
software to come alive. Shit, if Rod's dog managed to figure it out, it
must be a doddle! I think they even create newsgroups under the fidonet
names, e.g. fido.aust.avtech, although I don't recall seeing too much
internet traffic like that, so maybe there's a catch to it.
Does anyone know if it's technically possible for me to receive mail from
my current ISP, and then pass it on to other nodes, within the RFC
technology?
BFN. Paul.
