PE> I have a Yum Cha VLBus motherboard, with VL Bus slots, all of which
PE> are populated, one of which contains a VLBus IDE controller card. My
PE> C drive has the BBS on it, and has a capacity of 420 meg. My D drive
PE> is also IDE, and is 540 meg in size. I was thinking of replacing the
PE> 420 meg with the above 1.2G, and then giving the 420 meg to my BIL.
PE> Is it a simple process,
RS> Yeah, no harder than installing the 420 really.
PE> and how much does it cost?
RS> Que ? Just the cost of the new drive.
1. Do I need to buy a Vlbus EIDE controller card instead
2. Do I need to upgrade my Vlbus IDE controller card
3. Do I need to upgrade my ROM Bios
etc etc.
RS> The cluster size is tad high at 32K
PE> P.P.S. Can I still run DOS 5.0?
RS> Pretty sure thats fine. Its dirt cheap anyway if you cant.
What's dirt cheap? DOS 5.0? It is, but that's hardly the point.
The drive at $400 certainly isn't cheap. The point I am making
is I want to run DOS 5.0 (for compatibility with OS/2 actually).
RS> You do have LBA support in the motherboard bios dont you ?
RS> Likely you do, forget the vintage of that motherboard.
Ok, let me see if I can find an answer...
There is no mention in the manual. There's no name for the
motherboard either, although there are some model numbers,
1425UCV, 1433UCV, 1440UCV, 1450UCV. BFN. Paul.
