DM> That last statement you said, got me thinking. I agree its not a flame. Neither is this. I just want to point out that I said nothing about dropping DOS/Windows support, just OS/2 1.x. I agree that IBM is going to have problems if it ever drops DOS/Windows support. I believe I read something in another echo last fall about the PowerPC version doing this, but I could be wrong about it ever being announced and, of course, things may have changed since then. It was not a popular idea. My understanding of the PowerPC version of OS/2 is limited, but I believe the intent is that *all* versions (PowerPC, 80x86, whatever) have the exact same abilities. This would imply that dropping OS/2 1.x support, if it were to occur on the PowerPC, would also occur on the 80x86. I gave up on Dual Boot after using it under OS/2 2.0, but I have no doubt that Boot Manager could be used for this purpose. On 80x86 machines, of course, unless you have a *very good* 80x86 emulator that can be booted by itself on the PowerPC (since neither IBM nor Microsoft is likely to produce a PowerPC version of OS/2 1.x). ` --- Blue Wave/Max v2.12 [NR]* Origin: OS/2 Northwest, Bellevue, WA 206-957-4513 206-562-7212 (1:343/179) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 955 SEEN-BY: 712/407 515 517 628 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 343/179 100 1 138/103 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
