Hi Terry,
TB>I have some ducks down stairs in the closet. There wooden, does that
TB>make a difference? :))
Nope. Just place a slug on a hard surface and whang with the wooden
ducks. That'll fix 'im just fine, too. :-)
TB>Thanks for the info. By the way, where can I find diatomecious earth?
TB>I'm on a low cholesterol diet so I don't have that many eggs to crush
TB>either.
I have lots of eggshells, and I'm on a very low-fat diet for high
cholesterol. (I simply throw the yolks away, except for the 2 a week
that I permit myself. 2 whites = 1 whole egg in a lot of baked goods
as well.
Back to the problem at hand - diatomecious earth can be found at many
pool stores, but it's in a different mill grade than the insecticidal
one, which is found in plant stores, especially those carrying
"organic" items. Whichever you use, be considerate of your lungs and
don't breathe the dust. If you can buy, find or beg some sharp coarse
sand in any quantity, it should work just as well. Just place in bands
around the hostas' stems, say, 2-3 inches wide. And make sure no slugs
can slither onto the hostas from touching plants. Either cut the
touchers back, or boobytrap them as well. :-)
