SL> ³ So glad to see you've got Fido working again :)
SL> It was great! I had an email get returned to me. Let me know if it
SL> got sent out again. At least this time I had the fido as a backup.
          Hi Sylvia!
Can't remember if I already answered this but have not seen any
e-mails recently today being June 30 and your message June 21.
SL> I used Fairfield's soft touch cotton.
    Is this a 100% cotton or a blend of cotton 80% polyester 20% ?
I ask as it is not listed in HH's machine quilting book.
I have not yet experimented with the cotton battings yet. I guess
I need to find a project that has to have the antique look :)
 SL> I did
SL> take the machine quilting class in Jan. That was a great class. And
SL> the lucky thing is that the teacher was Cody Mazuran, who belongs to my
SL> quilt group (and the designer of that pattern for the Quilter's Keep)
SL> and is availible to me all the time for questions and advice. I had a
SL> problem with a piece that I was working on, and she was able to give me
SL> a couple of pointers to correct it.
That's great to have your teacher available. Sometimes we just need
to have someone show us a technique and it seems so much more clearer
than reading it in the book.
SL> BTW, have you filled your Keep yet? I just love mine. It goes
SL> everywhere with me. If you put long pins in the pin cushion, slant
SL> them at an angle or they will poke through to the outside. I found
SL> this out the hard way......ouch!
I just put some pins in it the other day and slanted them like you
mentioned. Yes, the Keep is great for keeping my small things
together and away from the small fingers of little ones. :)
I can just zip it up and put it away until I'm ready to stitch on
     my quilt again.
SL> But I am using the eraser to take some of the pencil
SL> lines off. I went a little heavy on the pencil when I marked.
What type of pencil do you use and do the marks wash out?
I have read where pencil was used to mark and remained in the
quilt after washing so I have not wanted to try marking this
     way.
SL I am really going to have to consentrate on getting this piece
SL> finished in time for the show in mid Sept. I had set a goal for '97.
SL> I wanted to finish two bed sized quilts, and several smaller projects.
SL> I am way behind because of the star challange. I have been working on
SL> the bowtie in the frame. But the Centennial quilt probably won't be
SL> finished by the end of the year. BTW, I meant hand quilted. The
SL> machine quilted pieces don't figure in the count.
I would be really challenged to get one full sized quilt machine
quilted in a year! I do expect to machine quilt a few smaller
projects yet this year. So far I've finished my PAQ1 and a baby
     quilt.
Well just to let you know also I've started some log cabin blocks
and hope to finish them later this week.
