Duane,
DV>I got to thinking about the frequency in discussion. Then I subtracted
DV>21.4 Mhz from it, and came up with a frequency in the aircraft band...
I remember listening to the comms on 388.000 MHz that the B-2
pilots said to the ground that they would be using 151.400 MHz
to contact the ground at the park. They also mentioned a
141.400 MHz freq, but there was nothing there.
DV>Which makes me suspect that what happened is that the actual
DV>transmission was in the aircraft band, and the 150 Mhz band signal was
DV>in fact an image frequency signal instead. Check the IF frequency of
DV>your radio in the manufacturer's specs, and listen 2X the IF both above
DV>and below the desired frequency. If you are listening to a
DV>particularly strong signal, you should hear an image both above and
DV>below the real frequency. Believe me, it works! The image signal above
DV>the real frequency is stronger by far than the image signal below the
DV>real frequency.
I've noticed that too on occasions, especally with dual
conversion scanners like my Bearcat BC-210.
Chuck, an avid scanner nut.....
