| subject: | Twins IDE or not ? |
Hello Matt, it is a lovely day today.
MM> See my note to Leonard, hopefully in this same packet.
I did and your logic has me in a quandry now. I will not get the
screwdriver yet. According to your philosophy, I never or very
rarely do HD to HD reading/writing so I should be on two IDE
cables. On the other hand, if need be this setup here would be
better if ever . . . !
Another problem reared its ugly head a few days ago. This old
P166 will not see the CD-ROM anymore. If I use an ERD with the
OAK CD loader, ( Load DOS with CD capability )there it is so
the device and connections are good. Looking at System, I see
that the Primary and Secondary IDE ( Single FIFO bot of them )
and the Standard PCI IDE Controler have this yellow ! showing. I
uninstalled both of them by removing the PCI IDE Controler and
restarted the system. I found all again and said that it
installed all and it should be happy but it is not. Device
Manager again shows the yellow ! and no CD device. I went to
BIOS and selected Standard setup, restarted but still no CD.
Where should I look ?
Having three different systems here sure brings up a few
questions on FIDO. At this moment, only this older P166 needs
help. Oh, the VIA 800 does not see the scanner but this is
another kettle of fish . . .
