Hello Roy,
Replying to a message of Roy J. Tellason to all:
RJT> I see where with Warp Connect I can do an install over a network,
RJT> but they seem to say in there that the network needs to be up and
RJT> running, fully functional, before the install happens.
You need a network system that is working as far as that the network cards
are known to be functional and the cabling is good. The target machine for
the remote install does not need any software at all - just a hard disk and
floppy drive.
Install Warp Connect (or Warp 4) on one machine, get it running with network
services.
Run 'Warp Remote Install from CD' (sp?) on the machine that has Warp Connect
(4) installed (the 'host') - it will ask you to put the Warp Install CD on
the host machine, and ask you to insert some floppies to make a set of
'network install' disks. It will also ask you about the network card on the
'remote' machine.
Boot the 'network install' floppies on the remote machine - that will
initiate the Remote Install of Warp Connect(4) on the remote machine using
the CD on the host machine.
RJT> The idea is to end up with Warp running on both ends, when I'm done.
RJT> The question is what the heck do I want to use as an interim network
RJT> in the meantime...
One Warp machine will be already up and running with network software. The
remote networking software is built into the 'remote install' floppies for
the other machine.
Regards, Alec
