FWIW A motoring club magazine that I subscribe to recently conducted a
survey of spare parts prices of different car makers in this country
(Australia). To enable some sort of comparison that calculated how much
it would cost to construct a car out of spare parts as priced by the
various makers. This was then compared to the recommended showroom price
for a factory assembled vehicle.
To keep things simple, the cheapest was seven times the vehicles
showroom list price and the dearest was twenty seven times the vehicles
showroom list price.
I think you might save a dollar if you bought an insurance write-off
vehicle and were able to fix it up. I doubt if you would be in front if
you had to buy all the bits new.
