KN> ObProg: just bought a CD with Peter Hammil on vocals,
KN> Robert Fripp on lead guitar, Steve Hillage on rythm, and
KN> Nik Turner on synth. It's a live album, a benefit for
KN> Hugh Cornwall of the punk band, the Stranglers, after he
KN> was arrested back in the early 80s.

DM> Wow. What did he get arrested for?

I think it was just marijuana. The London police were
after him to set an example for other punks, much as they
had been some years before with the Rolling Stones. At
the time the London Police were run by a right sodding
bastard by the name of, um, Kenneth Richard Newman, which
by what I must assure you is nothing more than an
infelicitous coinkadink is my name, too, except mine
doesn't have "Lord" in front of it. He went on to head
the police in Ulster, one of Thatcher's favourite thugs.
He also came up with the suss laws that had started all
those wonderful street festivals in Brixton, you know,
the ones with the all-night bonfires.

DM> Who plays bass and drums on the above benefit?

As if I care. What the CD says is that the following
people play on it: Robert Fripp, Basil Gabiddon, Wilko
Johnson, John Ellis, Larry Wallis, Steve Hillage, Pete
(sic, just wunnova lads, y'know) Hammill, Phil Daniels,
Nicky Tesco, Richard Jobson, Toyah Wilcox, Jake Burns,
        and Nik Turner.

ObProg: didn't that Fripp guy used to play in a band
        called Blondie?

                                Cheers,
                                Kenneth
