1237bd2a5ea3 tech Hello Tom - ->> Another problem reared its ugly head a few days ago. This ->> old P166 will not see the CD-ROM anymore. If I use an ERD ->> with the OAK CD loader, ( Load DOS with CD capability ->> )there it is so the device and connections are good. ->> Looking at System, I see TW> On older systems running win95 I have had the CD disappear TW> misteriously also. As a temporary measure you can always TW> put the Entries in the Autoexec.bat and config.sys files TW> just like it is on the ERD. fwiw: The W2K here didn't see both CD burners, then it did, now it only sees one of them. I have no good hypothesis as to why but I suspect that it was the install/uninstall of various 'players' that grunged the registry to not see both CD burners. The areas the players reset for themselves are the same areas W2K uses to tell other software what is available (hardware). I've tried editing the registry manually, removing all software and hardware info and rebooting, physically removing the CD burners then reinstalling them using control panel. Nothing will bring back the other CD burner (so far). I am supposed to have the OS CDs sometime soon and may try a complete reinstall of W2K and see what that can do for me. The burner that cannot be 'seen' is the faster/newer one and I'm very disappointed by all this trouble. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
