| subject: | Lost IDE controler ! |
Hello Mike, it is a lovely day today.
MR> Hmmm, this happened to me the other day but I don't remember what
MR> steps I took to fix it. I think keeping track of how many IDE drivers
MR> are loaded, as each controller requires one.
When I used my ERD with the OAK make CD-ROM useable on booting
in DOS and I could then see the CD device and use it, I knew
that the device and connection were good.
My next step was to un-install the IDE controller as the Manager
showed that yellow ! on it and on the two IDE channels. I
restarted the machine but they were not validated even if the OS
saw them. So, I gave it a new OS and that was the solution. The
CD is now running fine. But why would it loose it in the first
place ????
