While I was working in the ER at the base hospital in Korea, (I was
trying to get my national registry for EMT-A) we made jokes about
everything.  The longer someone had worked in the Emergency Room, the
grosser the jokes were.  It's a pressure thing.  It's hard to sit around
and think about the two guys you just scraped off the pavement after
they rolled their jeep, so you make jokes instead.  The main problem I
have with the television show "ER" is the lack of such jokes.  Also, of
note, was the fact that the grossness of the jokes had no apparent
bearing on the source; the females were as gross if not grosser than the
males.
