subject: Neat CPUID Utility Avail.

Hello, ALL.

There is a neat CPU ID utility available for Free download from

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002374/src/download.html

Folks with email but no Inet access can send me an email to
jim.holsonback{at}prodigy.net and I'll return it as an email attachment.
It is less than 300KB in size.

It explodes and makes a number of files, so best put it in its own
little directory. Ran for me in a DOS box under Win98fe on this AMD
K6-2 system. Looks like there's also a Linux version avail for download
from the same URL.

Runs under Win95 or better, and compatible with a number of different
chips, including both AMD and Intel.

Weird part - - I've seen an internet AMD XP2700+ chip review article
which shows the output screen for a system, and ver. 3.0 of this
utility. It looks to show the _actual_ FSB and etc. speeds for an
overclock condition. I ran this utility on this box, and it tells me
that I have K6-2 475, 95 FSB, clockmul 5. That would be what the chip
reports back under CPUID, but this system is actually running that chip
at an underclock contdition , at 100FSB, clockmul 4, and the BIOS splash
screen during POST reports it as a K6-2 400 processor.

Good luck - - - JimH.

... Jim, why does everything these days have to be so danged complicated?-Bubba
