Hello Paul,

PE> Well, I've sort of got further. I found the place that I think was
PE> meant to fix up my address, but it didn't appear to do so (awaiting
PE> verification). News I got to the point where I could actually read the
PE> newsgroups on my own system (which of course were all empty).
PE> However, I get a message "inndstart cant start Address already
in use"
PE> or somesuch when I start it.
PE> I now have zillions (well, half a dozen anyway) of "internet
friends"
PE> and am asking them for technical advice. I am also asking for the RFC
PE> which governs UUCP. BFN. Paul.

Ask and yay shall receive. I'll file attach FILES.HTM, and RFC976.TXT &
RFC1137.TXT. Files is the WHOLE rfc list in htm format, all are available via
the web, I'm working on getting the lot here, only up to 851 so far, (and a
few more actually).
RFC976.TXT is the UUCP protocol format, and RFC1137.TXT is an update for that
rfc.
RFC1137 also relates to RFC822, I think you already have it, so I won't send
that, either way available from here if you like. Write up a file request and
leave it on hold.
