Hello Paul,

PE> You would also need the ability to do a UUCP connect to get the mail.
That's what this software is supposed to do, emulate a UUCP connect. After I
get the relevant files in, they are gated into PKT equivalents, and tossed as
per normal from there. Outgoing is the same except it goes from PKT to the
mail/news format, and the uucp progie does the transfer. The only problem is
auto-requesting newsgroups. There is no real standard way of doing this, and
AFAIK, is handled differently on each system.
FM>> It's a Unix variant, isn't it? I guess not a lot would want to.
JT> Only thing stopping me is lack of software, but this situation is
JT> improving.
PE> What specifically are you after?
Basically replacing dos/windows software I'm running on my workstation now.
I'll probably still run a dos machine on my old 486 that I have lying around,
and convert my pentium to linux/nt. I have some windows sofware that ONLY
comes as windozs. (cd writer, organiser software, phone book, graphics editing,
tape backup software, adobe acrobat reader).
I might be able to get away without that graphics editor, and maybe acrobat,
but everything else pisses me right off because the software is crap and is
ONLY available as windowz. Can't even get to write my own because they saw
fit to not release info/protocols, which leaves me no choice but to use windoz.
I think there is a windoz emulator that comes with xwindows?
JT> AUST_AVTECH mail does come from paul, but is not processed. Moot point
JT> now
PE> It does? [checks] You're right! I thought you weren't collecting
PE> that from me anymore.
It's been dead for a while now anyway, and I never bothered to disconnect. :-)
