PE>> First of all there's a major issue, I won't have ANY fidonet echos as
PE>> fidonet as soon as I get the unix stuff working. Are you planning on
PE>> collecting comp.locuser.tml from me?

FM> Er, no. I don't think so. Huh?

FM> How do I get that? I suppose that means, how do I get internet
FM> newsgroups. Is that what they're called?

Yes, they will be the equivalent of internet newsgroups. There is not yet
a procedure by which you can get them, but I'll let you know when there is.

FM> Yes. camstock{at}ozemail.com.au Tell me if you got a message yesterday. Or
FM> if you didn't.

Got it.

PE>> FM> Issue 2: Do your points who have not yet converted
PE>> FM> to John or elsewhere also get all the echoes.

PE>> I don't think anyone who hasn't moved has actually disconnected from any
PE>> echos (there's not much point in disconnecting from an echo if there's no
PE>> traffic in it anyway!). I'm not sure what the question is though.

FM> The question was, if I write/reply to one of your points as 3:711/934.xx
FM> (because they haven't yet cut over) through John's system, do they get
FM> the mail? Echomail? Netmail?

Echomail definitely, at the moment. Netmail, I think so too, at the moment.

PE>> You can have this setup for maybe another week or so (this Linux stuff is
PE>> a pain in the arse, last night I spent 4 hours attempting to recompile the
PE>> kernel to include PPP and I still haven't been successful!). Getting
PE>> those echos from John means there's an extra delay because
you're going via
PE>> an extra system.

FM> Fuck, how do normal people get it to work then! Or, don't normal people
FM> use Linux? It's a Unix variant, isn't it? I guess not a lot would want
FM> to.

Yes, Linux is Unix. But you don't have to run that to get the newsgroups
from me. I just want to run it.

PE>> Yes, that will cover everything except people posting into AUST_AVTECH etc
PE>> from here, but I think people will stop doing that and start posting in
PE>> LOCUSER instead, e.g. Brenton wrote a message in AUST_AVTECH and I replied
PE>> to it in LOCUSER.

FM> Hmmm, so locuser/locsysop gets to and from John, but AvTech (and others?
FM> which?) doesn't?

That is correct, I don't get AUST_AVTECH from John (or anyone).

BFN. Paul.
