BV> Has the world stopped and I didn't notice ???
That is correct.
BV> When I did a mail run a little while ago, I only got one packet

BV> Loc_User which mentioned something about you being de-nodelisted but
BV> as I wasn't following the thread previously, I missed it.
Well, the de-nodelisting is the most important bit of info.
BV> What's up ?
Basically, I had an argument with my NC, and so my NC decided to
arbitrarily denodelist me. I'm sure you've witnessed childish behaviour in
fidonet before, well this is the peak.
I knew that this could be imminent, so I warned everyone in advance, and
gave everyone the name of John Tserkezis, who is happy to take on everyone
who was here, even giving them the same point numbers. So if you wish to
continue fidonet "just as before" then, that's the way to go.
BV> Is TML and Aust_Avtech dead ?
TML will remain. However, instead of using FTN technology it will start
using the internet technology, and instead of getting fidonet echos, it
will start getting internet echos. This will require a software change
your end, but that will not happen until I can give you a "10 easy
steps to set up XYZ software". And also it will not happen until I've
successfully got an internet feed, hopefully I can sort the stuff out this
weekend.
AUST_AVTECH is probably not dead on the other side of fidonet (basically
there's two sides of fidonet, me and everyone else). In fact, if you
untwit Rod, it's highly unlikely to be dead.
It is my intention to run "local" newsgroups of similar kind to
fidonet. But they probably won't be very popular if there's only a couple
of people still dialing me. Basically, to avoid the chicken-and-egg
problems, I am planning on making the internet newsgroups available, so you
get lots of messages.
The current situation is that my ISP wants me to use my normal account
instead of UUCP to get my mail, as he wants to get rid of UUCP (because
they lose money on it). It's bizaare I know, but I would like to be able
to do it anyway, and use UUCP for everyone who talks to me. I have
"fetchmail" for unix, which I have yet to compile. But I don't
know what to use for news at this stage. I am running this stuff under
Linux, to get over my OS/2 reliability problems once and for all.
BFN. Paul.
