MARK PROBERT (On 09 Apr 97) was overheard expounding to GWENNA BOWERS
MP> Then, you could ask the teacher if they saw the "misbehavior" or
MP> was it merely reported to them by one of the other kids.
This came up with my son the week before spring break...
He was involved in a "shoving match" that was (later) found to have
been instigated by another child. He attempted to tell the teacher
what had happened - as he has been instructed at least a quadrillion
times to do - the teacher's response was that she didn't see it start
all she saw was my son shoving the other kid. Guess who got sent to
the office? Guess who got a call from the AP? Guess who was in the
AP's office the next morning? Aww...come on take a guess... (-;
New procedure...
Whenever my boy is provoked by another kid he tells the teacher (same
as before) if the teacher handles it that's that. If the response he
gets is "I didn't see it" his response is to tell that teacher,
"okay, but it still happened, what are YOU going to do to stop it
from happening again." Told the AP I would not entertain any
referrals to the office from any teacher in the building for
"disrespect" because he made that statement to a teacher. We have a
little drill on this every morning on the way to school... he's got
it down pat (I hope), we'll see.., Followed up that meeting with the
usual letter asking her to make any corrections if my "recollection"
of the conversation had any significant error....got a zerox copy
back with a hand written note saying she agreed. I think she 1/2 way
gets what I'm talking about..
It is just so DAMN MUCH FUN !!
MP> It is a very bad situation and I do not like it one bit. It is
MP> designed to keep parents in the dark, and allow bad management
MP> practices to go unchallenged.
Very little in the way of bad management goes unchallenged ... they know
me ...
