Hi Adrian, AM> 1. My copy of novaterm 9.5, some of the AM> protocols don't seem to work AM> correctly, for example Ymodem and Xmodem AM> 1k won't work with some BBS's and AM> Zmodem won't work at all. Is this a bug AM> or is it just that my copy is bodgy? I've never used novaterm 9.5, but apparently there is some sort of bug with the Zmodem. I *think* there was a patch or a poke to correct it. I don't have the details though :-( Ymodem and Xmodem 1k should work. I've heard of no problems in this regard. AM> 2. I've heard that you can connect a hard AM> drive to a C64/128. Is this AM> possable, and if so could you please AM> supply me with info on how to do this. The best, easiest and cheapest way to do this is to buy one of CMD's hard drives.. They come complete with cables, power supply, SCSI drive mech, interface and full documentation. You just plug them in and away you go. AM> 3. When I download software from Network AM> BBS, some of the files seem to locate AM> themselves at memory location $1c01 AM> instead of $0801, is this also a bug with Those that locate at $1c01 were saved to disk using a C128. If these are machine language programs then they will probably only run on the C128. If they are BASIC programs then they may or may not run in C64 mode. Best thing to do with *any* file you d/load from a BBS is to load it *without* the ",1" after the filename.. This will cause the program to load into the BASIC storage area regardless of the machine used when the file was saved. AM> 4. Where can I get a swiftlink cart.? I AM> was refered to a guy in Sydney, but I AM> live in Melborne and that's a bit out of the way. Get it sent by mail order. Novo Computers PO Box 237 Mayfield, NSW 2304. Ph 049 201102 are the Australian distributors. What speed modem are you running anyway ? If you are running 2400 or less then you are wasting your money with a swiftlink.
