Turned out someone had plugged it into a RGGL when it should have been RGRL. The output driver was a tiny surface mount dual transistor. The missing channel was due to half that transistor being literally turned into white ashes. There was a really hot fire in there! The amazing part is the other channel worked perfectly. With a lot of difficulty and armed with a microscope, I replaced the dual smt with 2 small size transistors and the cd audio was fixed. So IMO it is possible to cause serious damage (i.e. burning down the house!) by doing what he proposes. So when doing a Y with the cables be well advised to include a couple of 10K ohm resistors for each channel to mix the signals from each CD. Well 4.7K will work too but don't go too much lower than this. You may ignore this advice if you have your circuit schematics. Mike **** ... If it's not on fire, it's a software problem. --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30* Origin: Juxtaposition BBS, Telnet:juxtaposition.dynip.com (1:167/133) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 167/133 379/1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
