LC>CT> Vicious people are vicious people, no matter what color they're
LC>CT> wrapped in, eh?
LC>That's my point, yes
I was talking with a friend about this yesterday, and it seems like the
general attitude here is that people are less tolerant of mean people
than they were. In the eighties, it was cool to be mean, but that's
getting old, I think. Most of the more radical feminazis have crawled
into the woodwork, and we're not hearing nearly as much hate as we did
then. I'm sure they're still out there, but at least they're staying
home....
LC>CT> He regrets it, big time. He has always put number one first, but
LC>CT> this one is bugging him. He just assumed that I would be willing to
LC>CT> do the same thing he did.As it is, he has pictures of his kids but he
LC>CT> can't see them. I figure mine could have done a lot better, but they
LC>CT> could have done a lot worse too.... At least I'm going to watch them
LC>CT> grow up.
LC>Can't say I have a lot of sympathy for your brother. You turn your back
n
LC>family at a time when they need you, you ask to be alone when it hurts.
I don't either. He made a choice, IMHO, and he needs to live with that
choice. I wonder at times if his choice didn't affect mine, but I don't
think it did. I have never wanted to bail on the kids, although there
have been times when I would have willingly carried my wife to the
airplane on my back.... That may be just a function of being
married, though. ("Can't live with 'em, can't bury 'em in the back
yard." Al Bundy)
Things are going pretty good in many reguards now. I'm still not
writing much, but that will come, so I'm not worried about it. I sold
another story to TATTOO, although I have no idea when it's coming out.
I did an article for Trucking Times which should be out soon, too, but
that was about as non-fiction as it gets. I should be chasing more of
that, but I am having trouble bringing myself to do it. I am having
some medical problems that are annoying the bejeezus out of me, although
I don't think they're serious at all, just annoying. A good friend of
mine, and probably the first person I met in this town, is in the
process of dying of several different varieties of cancer, and it's not
good. I am seeing her pretty often, and the main conclusion I'm coming
away with is that if we did that to a dog, the ASPCA and every animal
rights group on the planet would be on us like white on rice. She took
off the morphine patches because they were making her puke constantly,
and the pills aren't much better. Just because she's a human being, she
has to suffer. What the HELL is wrong with people?
