Hello Jamie,
In a message to John Duke, Jamie Adams said:

I am in the process of looking for a bass boat for my son and myself
and this was one of the things that I had questioned another bass boat
owner about.
He explained that "one" of the reasons for having a large motor as
compared to a smaller one was that a larger motor enabled the boat
to be able to plane easier/higher in rough waters, keeping the
passengers drier and providing a smoother ride.
With my never having owned anything other than a 12' aluminum
w/electric trolling motor and 17' canoe... I don't know how accurate
his answer is?
-> It isn't you. It's bass people in general. And it seems to be

OUCH! Do you really mean ALL bass people? :)
-> nationwide. Maybe it's just me (I don't know) but why does a boat
-> that sits all day fishing for fish need such a gosh awfully powerful
-> engine?
Engine weight... to counter-balance the boat when everyone wants to fish
off the bow. :)
May your waters always be calm & your skies clear,
Rick
