That's certainly true around here.  "Developers" won't be
satisfied until they've
subdivided and paved over every square inch of Mills County (where I live).

Probably 25 years ago I purchased a small cast iron wood stove from a local
(Plattsmouth, NE, at the time) merchant.  It weighs about 100 pounds and was
made on Taiwan.  Apparently it was and is cheaper to cast the stove there and
ship it halfway around the world to here than it was and is to make it here.
You can get US made wood stoves - but have you priced them lately?
