 EF> Hi Tamara,

Hi, Ernie;

(Just call me Ivy, everyone else does.)

 EF> Glad you recieved the radio. You asked so many questions that I don't
 EF> know where to start.

Sorry, I was totally mystified, but I have most of it figured out, and am
on the air with it, though there's still a few questions.

 EF> remember you must hit the clear key before you enter any information
 EF> into memory.

That one took me a while...

 EF> as far as charging goes I used a motorcycle battery
 EF> charger, 12 volts @ 1 amp for 1/2 an hour to charge it up to full
 EF> charge.

I jury-rigged a charging stand from a couple of plastic lids, some screws,
an LED and a couple of resistors, but had a problem getting a good
contact, so I added a submini phone jack in the back and am feeding it
that way. (Charging it from a 12V car battery used for the business
band radio, with series resistance.)

 EF> They do sell bigger bateries for it as well as a charger but It
 EF> did not come with any when i got it.

Would appreciate a source for the batteries and a charger, but this is
working for me for now. (Gotta make an adaptor for external antenna -
Mini phone plug and suitable fittings.) I should be able to buy a charger
in 2-3 months if I can find one cheap.

 EF> The battery that's in it now is a 10.6 volt battery @ 900 mill.

Ok, that gives me an idea of what charging rate to use until I get a
charger.

 EF> I hope this helps you enough until I get more time to sit down here
 EF> and write you a full set of instructions. Do the best you can until I
 EF> get a chance to send you more info.

Great! Many thanks for the help!

 EF> PS: Maybe some one out there has more information that they might want
 EF> to add to help you out with the rig until I can get you more info?

I think I have all I need for how, thank you very much. I am curious
about the digital and scan functions that I discovered, but that can wait.

Did you ever get the 2 netmail messages I sent you? I have received none
from you. What other echos do you get? We really should move this
conversation elsewhere before the moderator gets unhappy about off-topic
posting.   :-{
