It's not just windows, anything to do with HDDVD or Blueray is so burdened
with copy protection that I just won't go near it. Besides there is another
choice, it only takes one person to crack the HD media and put it on the
internet fileshare networks, from there on out it's drm free.
Get yourself some device that can play divx, xvid, or if you really want
cutting edge then mkv media files. Once you have that, you basically have
HD capabilities without copy protection. Heck, I've been burning my own
720p DVD's for 2 years now.
Don't mess with hollywood formats, go with internet standards when buying hardware.
