Good point. Considering he ventures outdoors twice a week, if that.

My grandfather had a "runaway" patch in front of his barn (er, what's
the Oz term for that?). It was like 4 ft high and spread from about a
car length out from the barn. I recall my father taking a scythe to it
to get rid of it.

Tis good for you. If Rhubarb pie freezes, I sure wouldn't mind a piece
saved for me. :-) I like Strawberry Rhubarb best.

VC> Well done. What sort of needlework?

I made my mother a village of houses over the course of several years.
This one was the first of the set and was a plastic canvas house where
all the parts are stitched on... the roof on this one comes off so you
can add candy to it. The door is open and you can see the Christmas
tree inside. The windows all have separately created shutters
(yank style) and the entire outside of the house has ornate stitching
to show the bushes and such around the house (with snow on them). I'm
bringing back a couple photos of it. The house itself must stay here,
as it belongs with the set, which will be my daughters when she grows
up. In fact, I want to have the main photo of it (actually it's of my
mother looking at it after opening the gift on Christmas) mounted along
with the ribbon in a frame type setup somehow. I really am very proud
of it, and want to be able to have some way to show it, even though not
there. I've got a great cross-stitch I did for my mother too, but it's
too big to fit in my suitcases. I have a nice photo of it, too.
(Actually you might have seen that photo).

 GG>> and Herb growing/drying/using. I know it's work. That's why

I really got into REAL herbal teas. I liked growing different mints
like Applemint, spearmint, peppermint, etc and liked checking on their
medicinal uses too. I tried growing lavender, but the climate here
just isn't right for it. The lavender I've seen in Oz amazed me. I
dried it to use in scented pillows and such I made. I've seen some
really pretty "wands" made with a small bunch of cut lavender and then
purple ribbon was used to weave the stems together to hold it. Very
simple, but very elegant. You then put these on gifts as decoration or
have them just too look at/smell.

VC> And you don't think being a computer
 VC> geek isn't work?

Not compared to gardening and needlework.

VC> You, who is writing a book on computer

LOL. And lately I've been learning Windows tricks no one ever
mentioned to me before. The book is "work", but the rest is like cake
icing. I truly enjoy it. Err, ecept for the incompatible hardware
part.

 VC>
VC> Being a computer geek is work too.

Sure, but I don't have to get my hands dirty, it's easier on the knees
(except when working at the keyboard at home with Rod). The number one
reason it's nicer is the smell of manure (yank spelling) only comes
to mind if my twit filter isn't working.

Cheers,
Gaelyne
