OMG, XPsp2 and Vista allow downloading of print drivers over http??? So a
proxy server is no longer sufficient to prevent downloading of executables?

You know I found another annoyance, every now and then I get a doorbell
sound from this box but nothing flashes, nothing appears to be active. What
the hell is the doorbell sound supposed to signify? I went thru windows
sounds, it's not defined for anything there. Is it something for trillian
maybe? Anyone got a suggestion to track it down?

Back to phoning home, found this "When the user searches the local
machine or the internet, Search Companion occasionally connects to
microsoft to download an updated privacy policy {!} and additional content
files used to format and display results".

Jesus, more phone home shit? There is no way to rope vista in, this thing
is under Microsoft's control from one end to the other. They bypass hosts
file, they can bypass any software firewall (in fact it's imcompatible with
sygate probably because sygate want's to get under a level they don't allow
in order to maintain control), I suppose I could block them in my router if
I knew every IP address they might be using but short of that they control
the horizontal, they control the vertical..

Geo.
