Assuming the pushers of RFC-822 are still around, can you tell me:

If we were starting up fidonet from scratch, but with the same technical
objectives, ie absolute minimum bandwidth possible, absolute minimum
phone-call costs possible, ie allowing messages to take 7 hops to get
across town, over a period of 3 days, if that turns out to be the cheapest
route, all via dial-up lines of course, then:

1. What software would you suggest (mailer, mailprocessor and editor) for MSDOS?

2. Same question, for OS/2.

3. Same question, for Linux.

I am assuming that the mailprocessor recommended would be one that
processed RFC-822 type packets. And would we need to add as-yet never-used
extra control lines to RFC-822? BFN. Paul.
