Hi Jim,
DD> Piggly Wiggly
JW> What a goofus name. It sounds like it's a store from a cartoon show.
JW> I just can't imagine anyone saying that they shop or work there
JW> with a straight face!
I've no idea how they got that name but they were if not the first, one
of the first self serve grocery stores. Back before Steve went in the
Army, when we lived on the coast in Swansboro, there were more PW stores
in the area than there are now. A lot of their tv ads featured a dancing
pig (person in pig costume) and were obnoxious enough that I didn't shop
the store. Most all of my shopping was done at the local Pack-A-Sack or
the A&P up in Jacksonville.
RH> I'm sticking to my this, that and the other store, but Wegman's
RH> will become a primary source when it opens up on May 19.
JW> When you factor in both time spent and gas used is it really worth
JW> it to shop at multiple stores? I shop at just one; it's the closest
JW> one to the house and I pass by it daily on the drive home from work.
JW> I have one of their loyalty cards, earn points and also as a
JW> cardholder get notices on-line for discounts of up to 20% on stuff.
Nearest one to us in Lidl--we buy various non food things there (tools
and suchlike) but very little food. Next closest will be the Wegman's
when it opens (almost just around the corner from us). Further out are
Lowe's, Publix, Harris Teeter, Aldi and Food Lion. We also have a
Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and Target that sell groceries. Depending on what
we need will decide where we go but most often it's Publix or Lowe's for
"normal" amounts of stuff, Sam's if I want to buy in bulk.

Catch you later,
Ruth
