GWENNA BOWERS was thinking about OCR and keyed into cyberspace:
GB>->GB> That sounds like my son. Another kid will bother him and he
GB>->GB> would relailate against that kid. However almost every time
GB>->GB> the other kid was not caught but he was and that resulted in
GB>->GB> Robert getting afterschool or Saturday detention. These
GB>-> This is a case of nobody caring. The general scenario seems
GB>->to be to do away with David ASAP. There were accusations of
GB>->him SAYING things that we know he could not say. He was still
GB>->suspended but able to give us the name of the boy that did say
GB>->it.
GB>Yikes that really sounds like both of my kids now. With being accused
GB>of saying things that they did not say.
GB>->GB> detentions are a minumum of 3 hours each. A few times a
GB>->GB> teacher witnessed the start and both of them were given
GB>->GB> detention.
GB>-> Very rarely were both children suspended here. It is a county
GB>->rule that when there is a fight all involved are suspended.
GB>->This has not happened.
GB>I don't know about county rule but it is the school rule for both to
GB>be punished unless there is evidence that one kid did it.
Nice rule. Rarely enforced, IMNSHO. In any altercation between kids,
there are extremely rare times when all the blame goes to only one. In
my home, when the two boys start going at each other, both get punished.
One for starting, the other for not stopping. When I explained this
concept to the principal, she looked at me with the most uncomprehending
expression I have ever seen.
I then said, "Yes, Dr. Smith, there is a responsibility to end a
situation." She could not understand how I could think that.
