it seems you are in need of some computer virus education...
LK> It is not impossible to get a virus simply by unzipping something. You
LK> can also activate a virus by copying a file.
a virus is a program, it has to be executed before it can do anything...
unzipping a file doesn't execute a virus, it executes pkunzip.exe...
copying a file doesn't execute a virus, it executes part of the code in
command.com...
LK> Some boot sector files
LK> also attach to overlay files as well as executables.
bootsector files? there's no such thing... a bootsector is exactly that
a sector, not a file... it lies completely outside the filesystem of
your computer...
if one were to interpret your statement in a special way, though, you
are correct - some boot sector viruses can also infect executable
files... such viruses are described as "multipartite"...
... don't scan this tagline, it has the 141$flu...**
