Hi Gail.
Have you thought of feather painting?  I have a friend that had it dome
on her bathroom and it came out quite well.  I hope your spouge painting
turns out for you.  Maybe you should test on a scrap piece of sheat rock
or whatever type of surface you will be painting on.
