> Which is the urban legend? Do you *personally* know anyone booked > for 10% over the limit? JT> Someone who knew a cop, said they set it to 10% + 2Km/h. I JT> drive up to +8-9Km/h over, (any limit) as I've heard from too JT> many people that were booked at _exactly_ 10Km/h over. I've never actually paid a speeding fine, but I've been booked a few times and I always talk to the cop. They all say "10K" (not 10%), so like you I drive juse under 10K over. JT> As far as I've been able to determine, SA is _exactly_ 10 over, JT> it Qld, and NSW you should be able to get away with it (I've JT> done 9-10 over in qld and nsw, past radar traps and not JT> booked). Me too. I've been past that camera in Concord Road at 65 or so (by accident). JT> Don't know about the other states. In victoria, I give myself JT> 4-5km/h over, as they are by far more anal than other states. Isn't it a 50K suburban limit in Victoria? It's years since I've driven there. JT> I don't trust any vehicle I own, let alone any vehicle that I'm JT> not familiar in. Basically, if it isn't GPS verified, I don't JT> trust it. Regardless of whatever certificate and/or lab says. After you've driven it for a while, you get a pretty good idea against what the other cars are doing, especially on an expressway.
