After some tinkering, I decided to give the 1400 another look as to what
the piston cup would be adjusted. The pumping is more difficult with
the 1400 than the 110. But after some fine tune adustments, I felt that
I got the optimum form the 1400's stock powerplant.
So in revision of what I had originally, the velocity for my 1400
(Angled forend breech cover, late '60's vintage) averaged with 14.3 gr
Premiers:
 4 pumps 489
 6 pumps 557
 8 pumps 601
10 pumps 643
So, the prior figures before adjusting the cup:
 4 pumps 436
 6 pumps 514
 8 pumps 574
10 pumps 607
Now, the 1400 is now more powerful than the 110 T/C Jr...by about 10-15
fps shooting the same pellet (hurray for 140/1400 owners!)
Also in the noting was velocity spread, I varied the pump speed on
purpose to see how much of a difference. And it didn't changed much.
The biggest spread I got was with 8 pumps after I adjusted the cup: 9
total fps difference. But the bulk of the numbers were 2-6 total fps
changes.
As for what I rather have? I think the 110 is much easier to pump and
eventhough the power is lower, the trigger is much nicer to pull than
the blow-off valve. But I got both to enjoy for now (plus a 147).
So there, any further comments?
Andrew
