I'm very much your junior and learning every day that old age
is no joy. :-\ 

This will sound a bit extreme but I worked with a young man a
decade or more ago that had his right hand smashed at work and
they put plastic bones in his fingers. The hand worked normally
and you could hardly see the scars. I was shocked when he told
me about it. I could see no impairment to his use of the hand
at all. 

If they can do that, they can fix one finger?
