GOT THE CALL TODAY - PERFECT TIMING!!!
 
It only took 2 days to get here, (as I mentioned in earlier msg).
Got my call letters this morning!
 
FINALLY figured out how to program it, (only took me about 6 hours of
constant "playing" to figure out that you have to clear the old freq
before you can put the new one in!).  (HUH!!!)
 
I jury-rigged a charger, after lots of guesswork and looking for a few
milivolts sneaking backwards through a diode in the battery, but I still
should get a regular charger for it, since I don't know what the
recommended charging rate is or have any provision for tapering.  (Please
disregard previous "msg of desperation".)   :-/
 
I am really happy with it, and I'm sorry that the fellow in the Ukrane
missed it, but his loss is my gain.  Maybe some day the three of us can
link up in a 3-way QSO.
