Yes!  My welding is sporatic and occasional.  I keep a good scrap
pile, and that always gets the first bead or three...

I'd imagine the welders there have the same basic certification test.
The first welding I ever did was the spider gears on an old Pontiac
rear end.  Poor man's (kid's?) posi.  Did make real "interesting"
noises pulling in and out of parking places.  But the welds held.
Probably five pounds of rod in there!

Falls into "Put your money where your mouth is" category .  Sounds
like a foolproof test!  Heh!
