Yeah, I knew what I meant :)

Actually, I've found the relevant regulation ...

This is covered by :

ROAD TRANSPORT (VEHICLE REGISTRATION) REGULATION 1998
- SCHEDULE 4

http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/rtrr1998478/sch4.html

- ---[ Quote_Mode = ON ]---

41 Speedometers

Every motor vehicle (not being a trailer) manufactured on or after 1 July 1974
and capable of being driven at a speed in excess of 40 kilometres per hour on
a level road must be fitted with a speedometer that must:

(a) indicate the speed at which the vehicle is being driven in kilometres per
hour, and

(b) indicate, when the vehicle is travelling at a speed in excess of 50
kilometres per hour, a speed that is not more than 10- less than the actual
speed, and

(c) be readily visible to the driver.

Nope. As clearly stated in the regs, it is for very vehicle, built after 1974,
which can travel at a speed in excess of 40kph.

Probably the same authorative reporting that helps people be aware that petrol
pumps can explode when a mobile phone rings near them, or that women shouldn't
masturbate with Lobsters.

We've done that once or twice too. Having the GPS linked to a notebook with
maps of the entire state ( and most of the coutnry ) at 25k:1 res, and the
entire country at 100k:1, helps though :)

The 200 isn't to bad. It is a little low at 80 and about 5 clicks low at 110.

I've got a heads-up display which I have fitted to the 200. It reads the pulses
directly from the speed sensor, and is dead accurate, although unfortunately the
response time is a little slow. What I mean by that, is that I can out
accelerate and brake it, but when cruising the indicated speed is very accurate.
