-> > Ouch! There must be some Canadian rim manufacturers or suppliers.
-> > 48%? Sheesh!
->
-> Mail order is what sucks. Unless the mail order item is ridiculously
-> underpriced its not worth it.
-> Either make a trip across the border, or buy it here.
That really is ridiculous. I was unaware that there was such a huge
Canadian speed-parts industry that the government felt obligated to
protect it with tariffs ;). That's government for you...
-> You can buy lots of rims at any speedshop. As an example a 15x7
-> American Racing Chrome Nugget I could buy for 50 dollars a piece a
-> couple years ago, for a price comparison.
-> If I didn't by chance happen on a pair of 15x7 truck rally wheels
-> later that day I would have bought them. (Used truck rallys had an
-> asking price of $30 - $45 each)
-> Back in 1991 a 14x7 American Racing Torq Thrust-D commanded the low
-> low price of $380. =)
-> Uhm, Fel Pro rubber sbc valve cover gaskets ring in at $12.
-> An Accel HEI Cap and Rotor for $39.99
-> Edelbrock Performer intakes on sale, less than $200.
Essentially double. Is that in CDN? Still, for a matter of geography
it's a rip-off. Not being an economist, I can't speak to the issue
of cross-border dollar dynamics. But it still stinks...
-> I suspect Gerald wants to be certain of rim fit before plunking down
-> some cash on 4 new wheels. =) He may have read some of the same
-> boxes I did when I bought my Nuggets, which basically said, if there
-> was a tire mounted, you can keep them, unless of course theres a
-> mechanical defect, but first we want to check it out for abuse.
Absolutely. What I haven't been able to figure is why the 15"
are so scarce? I'll be going to the junkyard later today and
will see how scarce they are around here in RI.
