Hallo Jud

The most exciting news to me was COM-support and packages. Having worked with
those for a couple of weeks now, I must say I found both quite buggy. Making
COM and ActiveX controls, I get a lot of access violations and spontanious
crashes of the IDE (Delphi closes up on me all together before I can save
anything). DCOM does not work at all with Windows95 as a client and it stinks
with an NT-to-NT setup. It's poorly documented, although the wizards do help
a lot.
I still would say it's worth the trouble but if you're not desperate to dig
in, I would wait for 3.01 which should be released sometime this year. Not
that I heard any news saying so but I figure they still have some fixing to
do at Borland.
The VCL has changed slightly, your may have to adapt some components. The
help files are a lot better though, some goodies and features are really neat
(like the "Code Insight" editor enhancement) and they seem serious about
COM-interfaces, which I think is good.
Groeten, Martin.
