->GWENNA BOWERS was thinking about OCR and keyed into
->cyberspace:
->GB>->GB> -> Gwenna, it is a disclipinary measure taken because of
->GB>->GB> ->behavior directly related to the child's handicap.
->GB>->GB> Was the behavior on the bus the reason?
->GB>-> Yes, being harassed by older kids would trigger David's
->GB>->reactions. David would get into trouble and the other children
->GB>->would not.
->GB>That sounds like my son. Another kid will bother him and he would
->GB>relailate against that kid. However almost every time the other kid
->GB>was not caught but he was and that resulted in Robert getting
->GB>afterschool or Saturday detention. These detentions are a minumum of
->GB>3 hours each. A few times a teacher witnessed the start and both of
->GB>them were given detention.
->Go to the teachers who have seen both sides. Ask them to adopt a policy
->of mutual punishment (I prefer accountability). Thus, when one provokes,
->and the other reacts, both get the same. For it to work, the teacher
->does NOT have to see the provocation and has to accept the report of the
->child who is reacting. This is hard for them to do, as they are trained
->to punish only what they see. However, with effort, they can come
->around. MOTIVATE THEM!
It is usually the Vice principle who deals with the punishment and calls the
parents or sends home the letter. The parent usually does not know which
teacher is the one who sent the kids to the office.
