As usual with items in the "why don't/haven't" category my standard 
"Follow the money" answer is spot on.

Dat's OK. We know it. And we're making progress but it's an uphill slog
against the mountains of money being harvested by the few.

I had to go look when I first saw that recipe. I had thought that the
Shreddies were small versions of Nabisco's Shredded Wheat bales which
come in three sizes.

I like my Chex-Mix with nuts and maybe some M&Ms.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Traditional CHEX Party Mix
 Categories: Appetizers, Grains, Nuts
      Yield: 24 Servings
 
    1/2 c  Butter
  1 1/4 ts Seasoned salt
  4 1/2 ts Worcestershire sauce
  2 2/3 c  Corn Chex cereal
  2 2/3 c  Rice Chex cereal
  2 2/3 c  Wheat Chex cereal
      1 c  Salted mixed nuts
 
  Set oven @ 350ºF/175ºC.
  
  In 15" x 10" x 2' baking pan melt butter in oven. Remove.
  Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire. Gradually add
  cereal and nuts, stirring until all pieces are evenly
  coated. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  
  Spread on absorbent paper to cool.
  
  Store in air tight container.
  
  Microwave Directions*: In 3 1/2 quart bowl or 13" x 9" x
  2" microwave-safe dish melt butter on HIGH 1 minute.
  Stir in seasoned salt and Worcestershire. Gradually add
  cereal and nuts, stirring until all pieces are evenly
  coated.
  
  Microwave on HIGH 5 to 6 minutes, stirring every 2
  minutes. Spread on absorbent paper to cool.
  
  Store in air tight container.
  
  * A 650 watt microwave was used. For other wattage
  ovens, time may need to be adjusted.
  
  Makes 9 cups.
