TM>DS> - Sales ends at 11:59pm Eastern Time on December 31, 2005

TM>Nice to get this message on Jan 2, 2006.

I had posted this several times previously in December...and Al had
originally asked me to post this for him. He also had extended it to
Jan. 3rd, and details were on his website. So, I did my part. Once the
message leaves my system, I have no control over what happens to it. If
a certain Sysop doesn't care for posts such as this and they delete it,
that's out of my hands.

As I told Frank Vest in another echo, I've always supported the
shareware concept in the 15 years I've been Sysoping, and will continue
to do so. Granted, the actual idea of shareware BBS programs, doors,
etc. is basically "dead"...and I've gotten burned by some authors who
"took the money and ran". So, unless a door is freeware or actively
shareware supported, I won't put it on my BBS...the same goes for
program IGMs, such as those for Legend Of The Red Dragon, LORD2, etc.

Doug Rhea at bbsfiles.com has taken over many of the "abandonware"
doors with "free copy" keys, but these expire after a year...and must be
re-downloaded off his website on a yearly basis.

At least Al's doors have the potential for possible new doors, and
addition of features to the current ones. You can forget about that with
most of the rest of the doors. Al's doors are the largest concentration
of doorgames on my BBS. And, if he releases a new one that I like, I
will register it.

Besides, while I may have a large number of doors on my BBS...and many
get little if any play...callers can't accuse me of not having a variety
of doors online.

Daryl
